European Film Promotion selects Iris Otten from Pupkin Film to represent the Netherlands as Producer on the Move in the 2021 edition! This year's event will take place between May 17th and 21st and will be the meeting place for emerging European producers.
Each year, European Film Promotion selects 20 promising, up-and-coming producers throughout Europe to participate in Producers on the Move. The initiative is to connect enterprising European producers with potential co-productional partners, strengthening their industry networks and, at the same time, providing a solid and visible platform for this next generation of European filmmakers. This year, we are delighted to annouce that Iris Otten will represent the Netherlands at this year's event!
Since 2009, Iris Otten has been a producer at Pupkin Film. Here, she focuses on both development and production, guiding writers and directors in the process of creating great productions. By producing stories that are heartening and witty, she hopes to contribute to an optimistic society. She graduated, as a producer, from the Netherlands Film Acadamy in 2001 with fellow student David Lammers' short Alfred Maassen’s Last Day, which was selected for Cannes' Cinéfondation in 2002. At Producers on the Move she will present David’s new project The Yellow Dot*.
Over the years, she built an impressive track record in producing artistic feature films and family productions. Amongst these are the multiple Golden Calves winning films The Peter Pan Man* by Michiel ten Horn and We Will Never Be Royals* (Mees Peijnenburg); the Emmy nominated productions Boys by Mischa Kamp and Penguins and Pastry by Tallulah H. Schwab; and the IFFR Tiger Competition selected and award-winning debut features Quality Time** by Daan Bakker and Take Me Somewhere Nice** by Ena Sendijarevic. In 2019, the family series Seven Little Criminals** received the Golden Calf for Best Television Drama. In 2020, Paradise Drifters** (Mees Peijnenburg's first feature film) premiered at the IFFR and Berlinale. Currently, Iris produces the high end family series Lampie**, based on the internationally acclaimed children’s novel by Annet Schaap.
