The Guanajuato International Film Festival has invited Floor van der Meulen and Sebastian Mulder for its residency program.
The Guanajuato International Film Festival (GIFF) is taking advantage of its twenty-fifth anniversary edition to further nurture the bilateral relationship with the Netherlands through its Residencies program: a professional option for selected outstanding foreign filmmakers to develop or produce their projects in San Miguel de Allende while participating in advisory meetings with Mexican film industry delegates. In collaboration with the Netherlands Embassy in Mexico two Dutch directors are invited to develop their projects during two months as part of this initiative. For this year Floor van der Meulen and Sebastian Mulder are chosen to take part in the GIFF residency.
Author of celebrated documentaries such as 9 Days - From My Window in Aleppo* (2015) and The Last Male on Earth** (2019), Floor van der Meulen presented this year her fiction debut feature Pink Moon** within the annual celebration of GIFF, shortly after its Tribeca world premiere where the film received a special jury mention. Floor will work for several months on the development of her next project in San Miguel de Allende.
Sebastián Mulder's prize winning Naya* was selected for GIFF 2022. The short documentary follows the trail of a wild wolf traveling from East Germany to Belgium. Sebastian will take advantage of his stay in San Miguel to consolidate his filmic vision into a new project that continues his investigation into the relation between humans, nature and technology and is titled (A) Selfie.
