Polish au-pair Ewa witnesses a rape in a small Dutch town.

A sensitive girl, Ewa finds it difficult to live up to the expectations of her host-parents. What's more, the friendship she shares with fellow Polish au-pair Agniesczka, is built on rocky foundations. Agniesczka is Ewa's opposite in every respect: extrovert, charming, a girl who wears her heart on her sleeve. When a rape takes place in the town, Ewa believes that she knows the rapist, but having no-one to share this information with, it furthers her alienation from the people around her…
