Coming-of-age film about Karsu Dönmez, star singer from Amsterdam who was discovered playing piano in her parents' restaurant.
Karsu Dönmez (17), a talented singer-songwriter from Amsterdam – called the Dutch Norah Jones by experts – started her career in her Turkish parents' restaurant. She performs her own songs with passion. She writes her lyrics in the middle of the night, when it is dead quiet. They come from the depths of her soul and seem very personal, but Karsu steadfastly denies that they are about her life. Slowly but surely she takes us into her secrets, which are closely linked to Turkish traditions. Growing up between Turkish and Dutch norms and values, Karsu seeks her own path.
