Dutch film selection off to Chicago

Chicago International Film Festival is running from October 16 to 27

The Chicago International Film Festival is set to showcase an impressive lineup of Dutch films. Here’s a look at the featured selections.

Part of the Snapshots category, ALPHA.** (prod. BALDR Film) by Jan-Willem van Ewijk, is an existential adventure that follows a young snowboard teacher takes his father into the snowy mountains where they collide head-on, both with nature and each other. it has recently won the Europa Cinemas Label as Best European Film in the Giornate degli Autori section of the Venice Film Festival. In anticipation of the festival, SEE NL interviewed Van Ewijk to discuss the film.

Featured in Documentary shorts is You can't get what you want but you can get me by Samira Elagoz & Z Walsh. This unique slideshow documenting two long-haired trans men falling in love world premiered in Rotterdam at IFFR and continued its festival run with selections for, among others, Hot Docs, San Fransisco IFF, Short Film Festival Hamburg, Frameline LGBTQ Festival and Leiden Shorts where it won the award for Best National Short. 

A variety of Dutch minority (co-)productions will be featured across several sections of the Chicago International Film Festival:
