Dutch films off to Paris

The NewImages Festival is running from April 9 to 13

Dutch VR experiences to be presented in France as part of this year's NewImages festival.

The first Dutch title is ROAMance, which is one of the 15 immersive works selected for the XR Competition. The multiplayer experience is created by Ibrahim Quraishi & Stanislaw Liguzinski (prod. Revolver) and world premiered at IDFA 2024.

Three productions from the Netherlands are included in the Out of Competition section: firstly, 8 Billion Selves, a VR work by Nemo Vos (prod. Dutch Digital Collectibles), which premiered at IFFR and has also been presented at among others Kaohsiung International Film Festival and Clermont-Ferrand at the start of this year. Secondly, The Miracle Basket a Virtual Reality story by Abner Preis that has already had an impressive festival run, from IDFA to the festivals of Venice, Sao Paulo and Geneva to just nae a few. The workis produced by Valk Productions in co-production with Institute of Time

And lastly, Soulpaint (prod. Monobanda) by Niki Smit and Sarah, which has been traveling around the world since its world premiere at SXSW in 2024, where it won the XR Experience Special Jury Award.  Other awards Soul Paint has received include the Jury Prize at SIMA, Best in Health and Welness at Games for Change Festival, XR Special Mention at Kaohsiung and Social Impact Award at Filmgate Internactive.
