A selection of Dutch films is being showcased at Woodstock Film Festival in the Valley region in New York.
Still: Hardcore Never Dies - Jim Taihuttu
Jim Taihuttu is joining Woodstock with his film Hardcore Never Dies** (prod. New Amsterdam Film Company). In the film Michael is trying to pursue his dream of becoming a pianist, while he is introduced by his brother Danny to brotherhood, drugs and the cutting-edge beats of the Gabber scene.
Second on the list is JIPPIE NO MORE!** (prod. Juliet, sales: m-appeal) by Margien Rogaar. The coming of age - in which Jaap Peter, who has Down’s Syndrome, falls in love for the first time but the girl of his dreams has feelings for his younger sister Joe - opened the 37th Cinekid Festival last year. We spoke to Rogaar about her feel-good family film, leading up to that event.
Torch Song** (prod. Family Affair Films), Jeroen Houben's second feature, is also being presented in New York. After the death of her mother, an eccentric singer visits her estranged half-brother, turning his life into turmoil when she finds an unexpected muse in his girlfriend.
Lastly, two Dutch minority co-productions are featured at the festival:
All We Imagine as Light* by Payal Kapadia
NL Co-producer: BALDR Film
Sales: Luxbox
Armand** by Halfdan Ullman Tøndel
NL Co-producer: Kepler Film
Sales: Charades
All films are part of the Feature Narratives Lineup. Read more about Woodstock Film Festival here.
